Project Manager (Interim) Agriculture Suriname

Staatsolie explores for, produces, refines and sales crude oil and petroleum products. Staatsolie also promotes actively the development of petroleum resources in Suriname. Staatsolie has the ambition to take a leading role in the sustainable development of the energy industry in Suriname. It wants toe be a major player in the energy industry
in the region, with a distinctive international identity, taking a significant contribution to the Surinamese society. The Renewables Division, part of Business Development, main focus is to engaged develop a strategic direction and expansion of renewable energies within Staatsolie. Within this division we are looking for a professional Projectmanager with expertise in the area of Agricutural or renewable energy.


Responsibilities

The Project Manager Agriculture (PMA) will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion, on a day-to-day basis, of the agricultural element of the Wageningen Ethanol Project. The PMA will act set targets, including factory development targets. The PMA will ensure consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. The PMA will lead the planning and implementation of the agricultural element of the project on behalf of Staatsolie. He or she will define the project tasks and agricultural resource requirements and assist in the appointment of suitable consultants, and monitor their work.
The PMA will evaluate the consultants’ reports and recommendations, and prepare appropriate reports on the consultants work for presentation to Staatsolie senior management.
The PMA will in consultation with appointed consultants, assist in the preparation of an agricultural development plan for the project and associated operating and capital budgets.
As a PMA you will guide the solutions study contractor and prepare an appropriate organisation structure for the agricultural project staff. Specify and recruit appropriate personnel. Prepare training and career development programmes for national staff as part of an overall succession plan.

Duration of the assignment 18 months.

Requirements

Requirements
-A Degree in Agricultural Science / Engineering, or equivalent
-Minimum of ten years experience at a senior level in the management of agricultural development projects and large-scale sugar cane agricultural operations.
-Knowledge of project management techniques and tools would be an advantage.
-Should have experience in negotiating contracts, etc.

-Must have good planning and organisational skills.
- Must have good communication skills, both written and oral.
-Must be good at delegation, and at motivating a team.
