Company Profile: Windows System Administrator

We are looking for a Windows System Administrator in Utrecht.
IT Infrastructure is this bank's operational IT department, which looks after business IT processes and the worldwide IT network. They have a global responsibility but also deliver service and support locally through regional centres in Utrecht, London, Sydney, Singapore and New York.

Role discription: Windows System Administrator

You will work in a team designing, implementing and maintaining all File server and Print services for European offices and branches. Your designs and solutions will be a template for global solutions in other regions. The role will cover both day to day baseline support, as well as initiatives and improvements.
You will be responsible for critical infrastructure relied on by many hundreds of customers who’s uptime is critical to the success of our business.
You will also have responsibility for maintaining implemented products and solutions, plus actively sharing knowledge with colleagues as well as making use of existing expertise within the team.

One of the upcoming projects is the migration from the Windows 2003 server to Windows 2008.

Functioncriteria: Windows System Administrator

Excellent English and Dutch language skills (spoken and written) are essential to the role, as is a willingness to travel to London and, if necessary, other international locations.

We would also expect you to have the following technical skills:

Essential skills:

- In-depth knowledge of complex Windows Server environments including clusters (minimum five years);
-Experience of working in an international banking environment;
- MCSE level qualifications;
- Excellent knowledge of DFS;
- Symantec NetBackup experience;
- Capability to think at a strategic and tactical level, with the in-depth expertise of a technical specialist;
- Ability to proactively provide solutions or come up with initiatives to either improve or make more efficient use of existing technology;
- Ability to translate technological innovations into practical solutions for the business;
- Capability to provide practical, quick and transparent solutions for business needs;
- Ability to keep pace with developments both within your field of expertise and outside it;
- Flexibility and adaptability to suit a dynamic and demanding environment.

Desirable skills:

- Knowledge of ITIL practices;
- Knowledge of PRINCE 2 methodology;
- Good understanding of storage technologies;
- Good understanding of security standards and best practices;
- Experience of ensuring conformity to regulatory compliance standards (SOX etc);
- Capacity and performance monitoring/management;
- Good understanding of disaster recovery and BCP techniques;
- Understanding of investment banking and financial markets.
